Sarah McCammon, a national political correspondent for National Public Radio, will present the spring 2024 Morton-Kenney Public Affairs Lecture on Wednesday, March 27, at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
Saluki Con, a two-day comic con style event filled with guest stars, gaming, virtual reality, workshops, contests and much more returns to Southern Illinois University Carbondale April 6-7. Saluki Con 2024 is also the second Eclipse Con as it’s part of SIU’s four-day Crossroads Eclipse Festival, April 5-8.
A total solar eclipse is an opportunity to witness one of nature’s greatest wonders, but for a researcher at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, it’s also a chance to study tourism in smaller communities where not much data exists.
Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Outside the Box 2024 festival of new music will feature internationally known musicians and performers for eight days between March 18 and April 19 at various locations on campus. All of the workshops and concerts are free and open to the public.
Holi, India’s traditional Hindu spring festival, will be celebrated once again at Southern Illinois University Carbondale this year. Everyone is welcome to attend the festivities, featuring guest speakers and more, beginning at 2 p.m. March 25 at Morris Library.

We prepare the next generation of leaders to face challenges and generate opportunities in areas as diverse as land use and resource management, food production and science, animal science, tourism, education, and public policy-making.
With 29 undergraduate and 18 graduate programs, we present a broad view of agriculture, resources, and nutrition. Our facilities include a 2,000-acre working farm and forest system, as well as specialized research centers and production units.
Some of our students spent the winter break exploring the diverse agriculture of Puerto Rico. From farms to forests to salt flats, these students got to see it all!
