SIUC To Play Key Role In Assisting Afghan Farmers
June 05, 2008
With sparse water supplies, Afghan farmers struggle to grow crops. A research team of 12 SIUC faculty, in conjunction with teams from Colorado State University, New Mexico State University, and the University of Illinois, will work directly with Afghan universities and government agencies on a project entitled, "Afghanistan Water, Agriculture and Technology Transfer" [AWATT]. The project is aimed at assisting Afghanistan with the development of a national water management plan in hopes of increasing crop production and improving land use.
